A Bill on Warning Labels for Bills?

March 6, 2008

Wouldn’t it be great if Congress passed a bill that required every new piece of legislation that lands on the president’s desk for signature to carry a big warning label that couldn’t be missed, such as “This Bill May Be Hazardous to the Economic Health of the Country”, or “Quitting Regulatory-Addiction Now Greatly Reduces Serious Risks to Our Nation’s Health”, etc…

Where is Nader when you need him? Why not also mandate that every new bill prominently display an Econ Label of Econometrician Facts, e.g., One serving of this Bill contains, 24% of deadweight losses, 33% of pork, 42% of hubris, traces of pro-growth measures, warning: tariffs may have come in contact with this bill during processing.
