Hayek Was Right

September 25, 2008

It took a bit longer than expected but we are now well on our way on the road to serfdom

An ideal government would have to be several orders of magnitude smarter than what the current institutional mechanisms are producing. There is absolutely no subtlety in the way our politicians pretend to be innocent knights-in-shiny-armor and in the way they push forward, head down, grabbing more and more power by the minute. In the end, it’s actually “sweet justice” that Main Street will have to pay for the mess that our corrupt political class has created. After all,  Main Street itself hired these bureaucrats and spurred them on, while indulging in the most narcissistic emotional impulses. If we want a smarter government, we need a smarter populace, but few will draw the right lessons from the current disaster.
